Introductory page to book\ Complete

My book will have an introduction page which will tell the viewer what the book is about. I would like to do this to give a clear indication of what my book was created for.

The front page will contains such information as:

  • Book content
  • Reason why animals are in the book
  • book numbers
I have added this page in the style of all of the other pages in the book to keep a consistent look. I have now completed the full book.

Front Cover

I have completed my front cover by adding a title on the top of the page. I used small font to keep the book looking simple and consist and, also i dent want to over power the front cover with huge text. Instead i used a small amount of dark brown card and placed it in the top centre of the page with photograph holders (corners) to hold it in place. The title is written in bold black writing to stand out.

The front and back cover are tea stained to give an old rustic looking effect and to keep a consistent colour with the book. I have decided t leave the back cover plain and no further inks or drawings will be added.

Constructing the book (part 2)

I have continued to add the pages into my book by carefully measuring and cutting the pages to size. After cutting all the pages i glued them into place and added the corners into the book to look as if the images are photos.
Here is the photo of the first and second page. You can see how i have added the corners into the book.
I continued to do this on every page until the book was full.

I will now continue to construct the front page and introduction page. I may also add a page with numbers and what is on each page.

Book Pages 13-14

I have chosen a Kangaroo rat as my final animal for the book. I have used all the same medias as the other pages to keep the book consistent.
I chose this desert animal as the Kangaroo rat can survive years without ever drinking a drop of water. It does this by storing moisture from seeds it eats in its pouches. The rats pouches are lined with fur.

The kangaroo rat is native to Texas and lives in deserts. It has long legs (hence the name Kangaroo rat) and can jump long distances by using its powerful legs, They have long tails that they use for balance.

Constructing the book

I have constructed my book by using a stitching bind instead of a hard back as i originally planned.
I have sowed the book together to make a neat binding, The book cover is coffee stained to keep the rustic look. The Front cover is made out of two layers card and the inside of the cover is brown (the brown paper adds a layer of strength).

This is the inside of the front cover. I feel the brown distinguished the pages from the cover.

I also prepared the binding corners for adding the pictures into my book, I used paint for this and some card.

Book pages 11-12

I have chosen an Opossum as my next animal to put into the book of drawings, I have used mainly pencil and little ink on this page. The ink is very bright so i have used little of it to draw attention to the hole page.
I have included an Opossum in my book as these animals have an extraordinary talent which makes them immune to almost all decease.

Opossums can have as many as 20 babies and the female will carry her young in her pouch, usually half of these babies will survive. Opossums are omnivores and are quite like rats, the scavenge and often come into peoples homes and populated areas to steal food.

When threatened an opossum will play dead and stiffen its body to appear dead. This is very convincing to animals and most times will convince predators to leave the 'corps' alone.

Opossums can neutralise all snake poisons. They also can climb trees very well, they can do this as they have thumbs and sharp claws. Opossums can also carry things with there tails!
